I met Callum and some of the DBD lifters at a local comp at the tail end of last year. I instantly felt at ease and supported by them even though I wasn’t one of their lifters. They all had such an inclusive warm team spirit. I therefore jumped at the chance to join DBD being coached by Beck. I have now been coached by Beck for 5 months. With two check in’s via email, what’s app and Instagram, communication despite being in different parts of the country is very easy. Beck is exceptionally quick at responding to all communication. Providing exceptionally detailed analysis, enabling me to really drill down and improve my technique. His programmes hit the nail on the head getting me to work on my specific focus points. His programmes also have a lot of variety and are always engaging making me look forward to train. Another aspect of joining DBD which I really value is the team ethos of all the lifters, we are a group of people/lifters of all ages, sexes, backgrounds and levels of experience. Everyone offers support and encouragement to each other, pretty much 24/7!

“There are so many positive things I could say about Callum as a coach, and being part of the Dedicated By Design community, but I’ll try to keep this short and helpful (like Callum). Having been coached by Callum over the past few months, I can proudly say that he has shown immense understanding of the relevant coaching principles to accommodate all of my goals and experience levels, as well as the best communication skills I have ever come across. It is clear that Callum cares a lot about his profession and despite having years of experience lifting and coaching, as well as qualifications up to his eyeballs, he is constantly learning and dedicated to improving his service (and I’d already give him 10/10)! Callum replies to messages and emails quicker than anyone I know, and his critiques of my lifts never feel like criticism, but more like teeny nudges laced with positivity and explicit direction on how to improve. This guidance is not overwhelming, but instead focussed on improving one aspect of a lift at a time, and I can say this has most improved my (strong, but technically wobbly) deadlift and transformed it into a clean, patient, strong, and technically proficient lift. He is unflappable, empathetic and works hard to facilitate my strength goals whilst being mindful of my current personal circumstances. I now enjoy my sessions and don’t feel the pressure or stress of comparison like I used to, and Callum has helped me really see the positives throughout this journey. He’s easy to get along with, has good banter, and when I met him in person it was not awkward at all! I’ve been lifting for 5+ years and had a few coaches, and whilst my previous coaches were good, Callum is by far the best that I have had the pleasure of working with. I feel very fortunate to be coached by him, and I’m looking forward to growing as a person and smashing new goals under his expert guidance!”

I started online coaching with Callum almost a year ago now and it honestly was one of the best decisions of my life. What you get for the price you pay is an incredible value for money. I cannot speak highly enough of Callum. His passion for this sport and dedication to his clients is 2nd to none. He has a vast amount of knowledge whether it be helping me through an injury or adjusting a technique through video coaching. His coaching programme is simplistic yet extremely effective which has seen my strength increase week in week out. It blows my mind how he can communicate so effectively with all his clients and the fact that he is always trying to improve and seek feedback tells me everything I need to know. By joining DBD I have not only gained an incredible trainer but an amazing team/family and I see myself staying a long time.

I’ve been coached by Callum for about 6 months now and I can honestly say he’s the best coach I’ve ever had. Twice week let check ins really help to keep me focused and on track and address any issues throughout the week rather than all at once. He is always on hand to answer any questions and deal with any issues no matter how small or seemingly trivial and is the biggest motivator and cheerleader! His attention to detail is like no other and it’s these little tweaks he makes that really make the difference. The service DBD offer is truly fantastic and I haven’t come across anything like it. I’m a much stronger and more confident lifter and this is all thanks to Callum and the DBD team.

I have had several coaches in the past and honestly have never experienced a better service than I have with Callum. His bi-weekly check-ins, constant form checks and expert knowledge and resources makes it the best coaching for a powerlifter that I have come across. The attention to detail is wonderful and next to none and I have felt like I have learnt a lot each week. If you want to take your training to the next level and continue to improve and grow then i cannot recommend Dedicated by Design enough. Its worth every penny and probably more.

‘I started with Callum in late January/early February this year. At first I thought this was one on one sessions but quickly learnt that it was in fact online coaching. This, added with the numbers that I was given at the start made me sceptical about the whole process. But I trusted Callum’s wealth of experience and knowledge surrounding powerlifting. I am so happy I did so - and pushed my ego aside, carefully listening and learning from Callum and improving my mechanics in every aspect of my lifting. This has enabled me to perform so well in my first competition and I exceed expectations - smashing 3 PBS with lots of room to spare, also placing second in my weight class. This couldn’t have been possible without Callum and I am genuinely so grateful. 'I have previously competed in one powerlifting competition; I coached myself and got some PBs. The commitment to my own programming was wavering and on the good days I'd push the weights higher than planned, and my bad days I'd keep the weights low or just do some hypertrophy work that I would enjoy more. Following a broken wrist and ensuing operation, alongside covid, meant no gym or strength training for 18 months. I signed up for the South West Championships to give myself a target to aim towards once I stepped back in the gym. I had been considering getting a coach for a while, and so when I saw a post that said a coaching space was available, I gave Callum a message. From that moment onwards, the decision proved to be the correct one. Prompt, informative and polite, I had chosen to go ahead and ask Callum to coach me. I then broke the news to him that we had 12 weeks to prepare for a competition. We both agreed that the progress that could be made in such short time frame, may not be the numbers I was targeting, considering the weights I was starting with. However, here I am 12 weeks later, I've smashed PBs and am targeting another competition.'

‘“I’ve been working with Callum for about 6 months now, I’d been a long time stalker of his on social media and always found that what he was putting out resonated with me. When the chance came up to work with him on a trial basis I jumped at it and have never looked back I’d previously been coached first in a small group PT environment then moving online (all with the same guys) before coming to Callum and found that I was the one chasing them for program updates, check-ins would be missed and generally felt as if I was a forgotten member of the team. I can honestly say that I get a reply almost straightway and its always in a way that is easy to understand. Working with Callum has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my lifting, coming back from knee surgery last year and finding a coach who genuinely cares and wants to help you not only get back to where you were but surpass it is amazing. He listens to what you have to say and then finds a way to incorporate that into his programming. No one size fits all cookie cutter style approach. I could not recommend him enough.”

“Callum is an amazing coach, and really believes in making everyone better for themselves, making them the best they can be and not for his own gain or prestige. As a new lifter, I initially started as most do with a generic free online program, but getting to know Callum, jumped on a coaching spot as soon as one became available. The online video form checks and regular advice/ question answering that he provides have been invaluable in helping me rapidly gain strength as a beginner whilst simultaneously avoiding the injury pitfalls common in new gym goers. “It took me a while to think of how to start this review because I have so many things that I think need to be said about Callum and Dedicated By Design. I had given up powerlifting when I met Callum - I had had some quite negative experiences and had made the decision to leave a sport that I cared about deeply. I truly believed it had been ruined for me beyond repair. A friend of mine spoke so highly of him that I decided to reconsider my decision and I'm so relieved that I did. I’ve been with Callum for about 8 months now and I switched from a previous coach to Callum, due to an injury at the time and felt I needed a coach with better understanding and knowledge on how to adapt training leading up to needing surgery in a few months. Pre and post surgery Callum was just amazing, even when I took a month off when recovering he was still motivating and was making plans on how to get me back into training when I could. When I started back post surgery it was tough mentally as I was nervous of re injury, but Callum was so motivating and was always there to support me when needed. I’m now 5 months down the line and I have competed in my first powerlifting competition, which a year ago I didn’t know if I could lift again! This has been made possible with Callum’s careful programming and encouragement and for that I’m always thankful!

I have been lifting for a few years and couldn’t seem to make any improvements, having met Callum in a random gym I thought I’d give it a go. Best decision I have made for my lifting the in depth analysis and form correction to programming have been absolutely brilliant I couldn’t recommend more, the support and time he gives to clients is unreal he always has time for you even at silly hours (sorry!)

”Callum has helped me change my mindset for training completely and I’ve been so much happier for it! Feeling the strongest I’ve ever felt, hitting numbers I would’ve only dreamt of hitting before. His critique and cues on every exercise is really easy to understand, and if you can’t understand it the first time he will find a way for you to. The program layout is really easy to use and navigate, you can see the time that has gone into it and his knowledge with absolutely any question you can throw at him. Callum is tough and will push your limits but it’s what gets the results and I couldn’t be more grateful to have him as my coach.”
